X-Force=Kill Squad – I’m Sold!

CBR has an advanced look at Marvel’s February Solicitations and there was one that particularly caught my attention.

X-Force #1

X-Force #1

It wasn’t the image that snagged me. No, it was the solicit text, which reads:

“ANGELS AND DEMONS” Part 1 (of 6)
There are lines that the X-Men have sworn never to cross. But after the shocking events of “Messiah Complex,” Cyclops realizes that some enemies need to be dealt with permanently… and the X-Men can never know about it. Enter WOLVERINE, WARPATH, X-23 and WOLFSBANE…X-FORCE.”

When I first read about this series, I suspected that this team was assembled to hunt someone down. I thought that maybe they were assembled to find the missing mutant-baby-messiah, but was I wrong.

This is a kill squad and I couldn’t love the idea more.

Thoughts?

I don’t know, it seems a bit 90s. Not to mention that Wolfsbane isn’t much of a killer and is quite a religious chick. I don’t know much about X-23, but isn’t she like 15 or something? Should Cyclops really be sending her out to do the jobs that he can’t? I’ll check it out.
Are your comments meant to be ironic?

    BDaly,

Heh. No, not ironic at all. I’m looking forward to this series.

For some reason, I seem to remember a promo image that showed Caliban and Hepzibah with the group as well.

I think that the general inclination of this group is that they all can kill, especially Wolverine and Warpath. I’m especially curious as to who they’re sent to kill and how Marvel is going to explain it.

With Wolverine do they ever need to explain it? I think the big question is if Scott does this, how does HE explain it to the rest of the X-Men when it does come out. Somehow I am thinking more and more that Scott is being put into a Mutant Tony Stark role or the scapegoat, he’s a Skrull hat.

Dear God, I pray they don’t make him a Skrull.

Actually, I think that it’d be a natural decision for Scott to create such a team. Considering the division between him and Xavier at this time, I think that it’s just another way for Scott to differentiate his style from Xavier’s.

X-23 is another product of Weapon X created to be a killer as is wolverine. I dont know much about wolfsbane I think Feral would have made a better choice since she always wants to kill everyone anyway but hey Wolverine Warpath X-23 and Wolfsbane out to kill some bad guys i like it !!! Cant wait

    Thanks, Mike!

This has been a great series from the beginning and I can’t wait to read it each month.

I love the grittiness and tone of the series and the line up of artists that they’ve been using has been great.
