As I was reading Between The Staples tonite, I saw Robert’s post about Iron Man and the new movie poster that’s now online and it got me thinking, “Why am I looking forward to this movie so much?”
And the answer occured to me: Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
You know, when the initial news about the movie broke, I believe Tom Cruise was in line to play the character and I was ok with that. Then everything changed, studios burped, and then we start hearing about Jon Favreau taking the reins of the movie. I didn’t (and still don’t, really) know much about Favreau, but I was still interested in the movie, and I have to say that the casting for this movie seems dead-on.
Downey is such an excellent choice because he does cocky so well and that’s how I see Stark. Cocky, arrogant, smart, funny…the kind of guy that can insult you and even you would laugh at it. After seeing Zodiac, I’m even more convinced that he’s a great fit for the role.
I can’t wait to see it on the big screen.
Ah, I did not know this. Well, I can’t wait for it to come out and I think Robert Downey Jr. will do an awesome job. I really like his acting. If you haven’t seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang I suggest you see it. I have to say though, that I would not have been happy with Tom Cruise doing the part. Thinking of Tom Cruise playing a super hero just does not sit well with me. Let him stick to his other movies. Anyways, enjoyed the post, keep them coming.
