Bdaly,

Thanks for letting me know about Thor #4. I'm still going to get it and read it. Probably will see how it goes until #6 of the series.

Everyone else: My thoughts about the All Star line will be up on Monday, so be sure to check back then.

More posts to come.

Okay, just finished number 4. It seems that JMS has nowhere to go. There is no story in the issue. Don Blake travels to Africa to help fictional characters who are victims of a fictional genocide that has JMS trying to be deep and failing as he did with New Orleans.Thor finds more Asgardians. This whole thing of finding the Agardians could have been wrapped up b the end of issue , but what we have instead is a drawn out story punctuated with the writer's holier-than-thouness.

My favourite quote in the issue: "Speaking for all of us, which being German I tend to do anyway, it is good to meet you at last, Dr Blake."
What does that mean? I'm not aware of a stereotype of German's talking for other people. Am I misunderstanding something?

I'm gonna stick with it for a few more issues to see if he really has any direction, but I guess he is one of those hit-and-miss writers. I loved Supreme Power and Midnight Nation, though it's been years since I read the latter. Rising Stas had its moments but also had some suckiness. Amazing Spider-Man had some good parts but I think he may have done more harm than good. (I'm referring of course to the Norman-Gwen relationship and their rapidly-aged twins. I also don't know what the point of 'The Other' was.)

BDaly,

I did like how Thor treated Iron Man and it makes me very curious how Thor will make Stark pay for his trespasses. Beautifully illustrated by Coipiel as well.

But to be honest, I'm still trying to figure out how Thor even found out about the clone in the first place, ya know?

Haven't picked up #4 yet. You? How was it?

I had actually forgotten about the whole New Orleans aspect of the story and the lame reveal at the end, which sort of shows how much that penetrated. A lame attempt to be deep that apparently failed, point taken.

I just enjoyed Iron Man's ass whuppin'. I guess if he had stuck with that and kept the book fun it would have worked a lot better.

BDaly,

Since I live in Louisiana and had to witness and deal with the attitude and people that were victims of Hurricane Katrina, Thor #3 was nothing less than nauseating and irritating to me.

Now, I do like Coipiel's art on the series, but I feel that with this story that he's been given to write, his talent is being wasted on this title.

Good list. I'm also curious to hear your gripe with ASS.
I'll have to atart picking up The Boys again. Love me some Ennis.
I can't argue with the list much (didn't you think Thor #3 was at least entertaining?).
I think X-Factor still deserves a spot, even if it is now stuck in crossover hell.

Tom,

Hah! No, I LOVE the series, especially Quitely. I have other issues with the All Star titles that I'll explain in the near future, I promise! As a matter of fact, I've already started the draft.

Thanks for stopping by!

Black Summer almost made my list, but I want to see how it plays out; Crecy's narrative technique and non-fictional nature made it sing for me; sorry you didn't dig it.

Looking forward to your thoughts on All-Star Superman...
